Valve Uses
Ball Valve:
- Ideal for isolation and regulation purposes, the Ball Valve ensures positive shut-off in a compact design. It’s quick 90° rotation allows rapid opening and closing, and the handle position provides a clear indication of the valve’s status.
Butterfly Valve:
- Designed for positive shut-off, the Butterfly Valve is primarily used for isolation but also suits regulation. Its lightweight and easy installation between flanges, and cost-effectiveness make it a preferable alternative to Cast Iron Bodied Gate Valves. Suitable for slurries and fluid with solids, it ensures a 90º quick opening.
Gate Valve:
- Exclusively used for isolation, the Gate Valve minimises pressure drop and fluid entrapment. While slow to open and close due to its rising stem/gate, it’s perfect for intermittent operation.
Check Valve:
- Controlling flow direction and preventing backflow, the Check Valve comes in Swing and Spring types. Swing Check Valves, recommended with Gate Valves, offer minimal pressure drop, relying on gravity to re-seat. Spring Check Valves are ideal for reciprocating pumps and versatile in all mounting positions.
Globe Valves:
- Suited to flow regulation with frequent operation, the Globe Valve introduces a noticeable pressure drop. Despite its bulkiness and weight, the short stems reduce operating time, making it effective for various applications.
